The bleach-fix should be diluted with 600ml of water after mixing. The 1L kit comes with three 200ml bottles of color developer each, which must be diluted with 400ml of water. The three components of the color developer should be mixed with each other before use and topped up with water until the complete bath is reached. Mixing the baths themselves is straightforward. The kit consists of six components: the color developer in three parts, the bleach-fix in two parts and the stabilizer bath. The Tetenal Colortec C-41 Kits offer a color development process in three steps: color development (CD), bleach-bix (BX) and stabilizer (STAB). Nevertheless, the innovative C-41 Monopart Kit from Bellini is even easier and faster to use since the color developer does not need to be mixed the bleach and fix consist of two separate baths, making the development process as a whole a lot faster. The Tetenal Colortec C-41 Kits have been the standard in the field of color development kits for home use for several years. We have already convinced a lot of customers to develop their own color films at home with this kit and many of them are convinced and confirm that developing their own color films is perfectly possible and also get a lot of satisfaction out of it! After all, once you have mastered the process, it can be a cheaper alternative to the lab development of your color films. Nevertheless, Tetenal's Colortec C-41 Kits are designed to make the development process as simple and quick as possible so that the desired end result is always achieved. Black and white film is more tolerant in this respect. If this temperature is deviated from or not kept constant during the process, this will influence the end result and lead to color shifts through the negative. Indeed, the main difference with the development of black and white film is that the color chemistry has to be kept at a constant, higher temperature. A misconception, as the Colortec C-41 Kits from Tetenal were specifically designed to make the development of color negative films a cold (or warm?) trick. It is still generally believed that developing your own color films at home is an impossible task and a lot more difficult than developing black and white films. If that's true then worry about the 90% and leave the 10% to others.- Important notice for our international customers: this item cannot be shipped overseas by airfreight since some components are classified as hazardous by IATA-DGR safety regulations. What is your end goal? If you are concerned with a $14 develop and scan, I would imagine you aren't going to be spending hundreds on dollars making museum quality prints to be sold on the fine art market. You can get a lot of improvement that way but it is time consuming. If I wanted more quality I could wet mount the negative or purchase a higher end film holder that allows me to adjust the distance of the negative from the glass to achieve the most optimal focus. A 9600DPI drum scan might catch finer points or more subtle shadow detail but you won't see it on an enlargement of that size. That equates to a final 120 film print of 18" x 18". To say that flatbed scanner can't produce excellent results is simply not true. I have an Epson 4990 and it is fantastic and very flexible. I look at the negs and scan what I like and narrow down from there. That doesn't mean you can't do it at home but is it cost (chemicals) and time effective? I get my color film developed for $4 a roll, no prints, no scans. C-41 is designed to be a machine process.
